Beyond Trends: Strategic Media in a Fluid Environment

When Governor Gavin Newsom launched his podcast featuring conservative activist Charlie Kirk, it raised an interesting strategic question: Is adopting the latest media format the same as having a media strategy?

In my recent appearance on Spectrum News' "Inside the Issues with Amrit Singh," I discussed how organizations often confuse tactical trend-following with genuine strategic thinking. Whether in politics, business, or institutional leadership, the challenge remains the same: distinguishing between what's momentarily popular and what creates lasting strategic value.

I’d love the chance to talk with the Governor’s team to see if the now almost week-long discussion of his concerns with transgender athletes playing in sports for girls and women is “deeply unfair” was the goal all along here.

Hit me up Team Newsom and we can talk about it!
